Why 2022 prices?
The National Database of Childcare Prices is the only official source of county-level childcare prices, and 2022 is the latest year it covers. Prices have risen since then, so treat these figures as a floor. We label every number with its year and do not adjust it for inflation or fill in counties the source leaves blank.
Some values were estimated by the Department of Labor itself (for example, carried forward from a state's earlier survey). Those are marked "est." and each county page explains how they were estimated.
